Do you worry about vans carrying glass?
Because nobody would understand it probably, except Mr Burns, who has a velocitator in his car, and also a deceleratrix. The definition of velocity, by the way is "Rapidity or speed of motion".Speed is a scalar, velocity is a vector.
Do you have to replace a child car seats that has been involved in an accident?
Eg.
Point A and B are one mile apart, but you take a detour to get there, and drive two miles. You drive at a steady 30mph by the speedo in the car.
Your mean speed is 30mph, your mean velocity is 15mph.
Speed cameras technically measure velocity over a couple of metres, due to the simple way they work. The car speedometer measures speed because it is attached to the axel (and therefore the wheels).
Can I be arrested for drink driving a motorcycle indoors?
Because we can only measure speed whilst in the car (and not velocity), they may as well give us a speed limit and not a velocity limit.
