they also have day time running lamps on semi trucks.when the breaks are released the headlights come on automatically.just about all newer cars and trucks now have the day lamps on them.

Yes. they are still quite common on new vehicles. I think it would be more effective if they would activate the tail lights as well. too often I find people who only use their daytime running lights when it's dark out early in the morning, or don't turn on their lights when we get our afternoon deluge of rain here on the west coast of Florida.
