I don't slam on the brakes because I can't afford to be without my car if they rear end me. However, I do slow down to an extremely annoying speed (like about 10 mph). I'll slow down until they pass me, especially if there are multiple lanes, or I'll put on my hazard lights so they get a clue that I don't like them back there. I'm OK with people who don't want to speed, but please remember that the left lane is usually for passing traffic. If there is only one lane then there is not much you can do I suppose.

No... You should slow down gently to increase the distance between you and the car in front of you (since you now have to create a double safetly margin for the pair of you).If at all possible, pull over and allow/encourage them to pass you..
