Question:
okay so i live in colorado, i was supposed to turn right after this yield onto the colorado 119 highway. i saw the yield and this MASS of cars was flowing onto the highway, so i stopped so i could "yield" watch for these cars and they kept coming so i waited, then the person behind me crashes into me. i dont understand yields onto that kind of highway. i always thought yielding means u watch then go, but if theres a mass of cars coming i always thought u had to WAIT so they dont hit u. also, the lasy who hit me said that the lane i was yielding continues on for a certain distance then i was supposed to ,merge in. well people here never let you in and im not gonna commit suicide trying to get into a lane with mass cars coming. what did i do wrong and how can i fix it? there is no other route i can take and im worried it will happen again .

Why Do schools not teach driver's education anymore?
I hope she was sited for the bender. I do the same as you. I have children, live in Texas, and I do not take chances. My life and my children not to mention the other motorists on the road are way more important than jumping on out there just to get where I am going or let the other people get where they are going faster.I saw a similar situation in New Jersey. The lady who was back-ended went to court and made a traffic charge against the guy who hit her, The judge found him guilty and fined him. I don't know if that works in Colorado. You should ask the local cops if you can get the driver fined by the court and what you should do in that driving situation.
Why is it the curvier road the narrower its made with lots of drop off asphault shoulders for us?
"YEILD" means watch for cars and stop IF YOU HAVE TO.how many auto accidents are caused per year by people avoiding animals?
when entering a highway too many people get scared and slow down or even stop, when in fact you should speed up to highway speeds. YES there is a lane provided off all exits for you to merge onto the highway.
Universal back box... the cherry bomb exhaust!?
SO when entering an on ramp FIRST and as soon as you can look at the cars on the highway try and spot an opening for your car to get into. then speed up to 50-80 mph or whatever speed the cars on the highway are traveling. then merge onto the highway. going slow may seem safer but it is more likely to cause an accident then save you from one , as you have learned.
Tactical Driving Training (Evasive, J-Turn)?
and most people on the highway see a car trying to get on the highway, if its going slower then them guess why they wont let you on because you will die if your trying to get on a road going 30 and the other people are doing 50 there not going to slow down for you,but if you are going as fast as they are they dont have to do anything but let you in the lane no slowing or swerving to get around you its much smoother the faster you enter the roadway.
Sounds like to me that you did everything right. The guy behind you was wrong. I've always heard, if you get hit in the rear it was that guys fault. Unless you were driving backwards. You couldn't go into traffic when there wasn't a space. What is wrong with people?
Did a policeman come before you left? You shouldn't have left until he did because you were hit. If not maybe DMV can help you. I hope you got the license number of the guy that ran into the back of you. He should have to pay for damages.
