What is wrong with using Carlisle tires on travel trailers?
I would say just used standered 2 by 4 that have a couple coats of primer or some pressure treated 2 by 4 cross braced on the underside of the trailer they are more costly up front then ply board but you will save money over time because they will hold up longer that or metal is used in all the horse trailers i have seen but the wood is more giving so just acts as a little more padding in addition to the rubber matsRubber wood.

i am getting my service and mot tomorrow morning,,?
OakI would use 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 planking covered with at least 1/2" plywood ( the plywood is a sacrificial layer that you can change as required.) and then the rubber mat if you wish. Besides the cost of replacement, you have to consider the cost of failure. If you value your animals at all, don't cheap out in this area.
