If Speed cameras are soley for road safety why are speed camera detector illegal?

Question:
Because Speed cameras are REALLY cash cows and nothing to do with road safety?

Answers:

Driving fear, what to do?

To all you who say 'stick to the limit'..that's OK in a village or past a school but on a safe straight road or motorway the 60 or 70 mph limit is ridiculously low. They were decided on in the 60s when cars took a long time to stop.Modern cars are much safer and some can even stop in half the distance yet these archaic limits still remain. If the powers that be reviewed the limits, more people would stick to them.
90% of drivers on motorways travel safely at 80-90 mph but these are criminals (or £ symbols) in the government's minds.
The death numbers have not gone down since the cameras were put in but the money has rolled in.This is why they are making the detectors illegal...you would not get fined.
The vast majority of drivers who break the limit(I don't mean whizz-kids who do wheelies and 60 mph through villages) don't want to hurt anyone or damage their cars so are careful.Just because they go over a stupidly low limit shouldn't make them criminals. They get fined, have points on their licences and their premiums go up. Illegal drivers with no tax/insurance get off scott free.

Is it against the law to drive with a walking boot?

Ding.

Is this illegal..?

But speed camera fines can be avoided. You don't have to play their cash grabbing games.

When driving what is the right of way, and how do i know who has it?

Just stick to the speed limit!

Do you know of someone who has been affected by drunk driving? Can you tell me about it?

EDIT:
Good point. They're illegal, because they're radio transmitters, which may interfere with emergency frequencies. Allegedly.

Okay im new to this can someone tell me the legal heights for 4x4 vehicles?

as far as I am concerned, speed cameras are like bends, brake for them and accelerate out of them. My Tom Tom knows where they are and warns me, I am certain that is not illegal, but then it knows where they are fro m data input, it does not "detect them

Check blind spot first or turning on the signal light first before changing line?

To aviod help not pay for speed camera profits it's very simple - stick to the limit it's not hard.

Are there people who are scared to drive even after getting their license?

just like what they say. "Stick to the limit".

Why are there no seatbelts on school buses?

Speed cameras are simply cash cows to try and put money into our greedy governments coffers. They dont help improve road safety at all.

What are the best things to keep in my car incase of emergencies?

Of course camera detectors are illegal because if a driver comes up to a camera the detector alerts them and they simply slow down, then speed back up again. Its one less driver to exploit and take money from.

My airbags didn't deploy at my accident. How do I file a complaint or suit?

Those who say stick to the speed limit, i bet not one of you does exactly 30 mph in a 30 zone or 40mph in a 40 zone, its impossible.

Could the battery in a car key fob be a possible source of ignition whilst refuelling a petrol car?

Because it's the fear of a camera which is the big plus for road safety. If you knew they weren't coming-up there would be no reason to respect the law.

Has anyone been to the Driving Theory Test in Ireland recently? Has anything changed? The book is thicker now.

Camera detectors are no longer illegal. Jamming equipment is though.

There is a car illegelly parked in front my home and it is blocking the trucks to plow the snow!?

Cameras cause accidents. Rear end shunts from sudden braking, keeping your eyes on the speedo instead of the road, no police patrols picking up the dangerous drivers, the drunk drivers, the unlicensed drivers, the illegal cars, the dangerous cars, the uninsured cars, I could go on but then everything else costs money, cameras make money!!!

Material handling decals?

Detection equipment is not illegal...
...you can buy it in Halfords.

Extradition law?

The vast majority of drivers already have a camera detector installed in their vehicles. It's called sight and memory!

Ive got a driving question..and a purchase one?

The vast majority of commuter journeys use regular routes, on which drivers know where every camera is placed.

Why do people like to see how dangerous they can pass people while driving?

In between the cameras, so far as I can make out, it's business as usual, and the average traffic speed goes up to 35mph or 45mph, plus another 5mph at night when the roads are quiet.

Is it as safe to drive at night as day on the highway, if you know the road?

Except in very cirtical areas and near schools, I fail to see what contribution speed-cameras make to safety on the roads, because if they have to be sighted on roads where at least three deaths have occured, it is only a statistical game, and will eventually lead to the total surveillance of every vehicle, every minute of the day, and the total control of the police-state we are rapidly becoming under this weak and ineffective government.

What is the outcome of fail to remain and careless? with no one hurt, and both charges are under the hta!?

Maybe THAT is what Mr Reid wants, in addition to being the next Prime Minister...what a scary thought.
