Question:
I (18 years old) just got my instruction permit and drove 7 times. I noticed that I get cramps in my hands when I am driving. Is this normal as a beginner? Who has the same problem? What can help? I drive with this position:
How much fun is setting off the airbags in you car?
I red that the 9 and 3 o'clock position is best and to rest the thumbs on the notches, thumbs pointing up. Everybody should drive like that. That lowers the risk of hand and arm injury when the air bag deploys at a speed of 200 mph. Just a warning for people who don't know about this safety.
Answers:
Try holding the steering wheel a little looser.........you're probably holding on too tight due to nervousness. Hope that helps.
can any one tell me how many accident's are cause by smoking pot?
You may have carpel tunnel in your wrists. Ask your doctor, it can be corrected. At a four way intersection, if all four cars stop at the same time, who has the right of way?
Your New to driving and your not use to your hands being above your heart for long periods. Even though 10 and 2'o'clock are the safest positions to drive in, you have to see what's more comfortable. I drive with one hand at 12'o'clock and switch hands periodically. This keeps me from getting those cramps. I have been driving for 20 years so I feel comfortable driving with one hand even though it's not the safest. You have to drive a little more to find your comfort zone. Wait til you get the foot cramps from your foot being on the gas pedal for long periods in one position. Bad thing is, it's too difficult and unsafe to switch legs. By the way, I hope no one drives at 200 MPH ! The air bag wasn't designed for that speed, there wouldn't be anything left of you or the car.why is it that when you come to a stop sign and someone is turning they "short corner" you?
There's nothing wrong with your hands. You're just putting them through a new routine - like skiing for the first time, you ache the next few days.
You'll get used to the exercise. Just learn to keep both hands on the wheel unless to use one hand for a function related to the operation of the vehicle - not telephoning or picking up your slushy.
Remember the accident is 'always' caused by the other person so be on the lookout for their mistakes. And obey instructions - highway, police, traffic flow trends and respect the weather. Your mum can never replace you. Hope you get your license soon.
Is it legal to own and operate a right hand drive vehicle in Utah?
Try the 10 and 2 o'clock position, relax your grip and don't push against the wheel.does anyone know of a company that makes wheelchair accessible recreational vehicles?
You're probably just gripping the wheel too hard. Loosen up a bit. There's no hard and fast rule about hand placement. I've read 9 and 3 and I've read 10 and 2. I use 11 and 1. Try shifting your hands around and find what placement is most comfortable while retaining control of the car. If you're resting your thumbs on the spokes, make sure you're not putting the full weight of your hands/arms on the thumbs. That could probably get uncomfortable. Are you the kind of person that is serious about Seat belt use?
They make a hand brace you can buy@ your local drug store or walmart. They are pretty cheap. I drive truck for a living and I have to use one. My hand will cramp and/or fall asleep.200 mph~ Whew,I've been 140 on my bike.
Who should be allowed to drive?
When I first start driving, I have aches and pain on my shoulder, but not in my hands. My driving instructor told me to relax the hands, hold the steering wheel but not tight. To talk to you in a level of your understanding, try to hold an uncooked egg. If you hold it tight, the egg will break. If you can hold a glass of water, that is how you hold the steering wheel.More Questions & Answers ...
