Immobiliser on a car?

If my car has an immobiliser, could it be stolen if hot wired? I know it may sound a stupid question but just wondering.

To slow-down theft, we started locking the steering wheel when the key was removed. Thieves would punch out the key switch. Then came electronic ignition & a computer module to optimize the processes under the hood. When the computer is initialized, a self test of components happens in fractions of a second. The immobilizer option is a program that runs in a continious loop when theft is detected, and only a factory trained shop with the proper master program can break the loop cycle and allow the run program.
Insurance companies would rather return your car to you than pay out, therefore they offer discounts to owners of cars with this option.
