Why Do schools not teach driver's education anymore?

Question:
Im just wondering why this class was done away with. Since teens and adults from the late 80's and 90's seem to have absolutley no clue whatsoever when it comes to the rules of the road. You would think that if they brought it back there would be less accidents and traffic violations with it being taught.

The truth is that they still do teach it. Many schools require it as it fits into the P.E./ Health area. Students learn these procedures and have been required to take driving school if they are planning to drive during the school year. They actually increased the time spent and the amount of driving school or drivers education due to fatal accidents with teens. The amount of teaching is actually one of the highest around areas where teens with modified cars or the urge to speed at extreme rates are focused on more. They may take a few away, but I doubt that and they may have it at another school, community center, or public place where they can help with the drivers education program.

Can you drive with a broken right leg in a cast?

I agree....our school district hasn't taught drivers ed in years. You can sure tell by the quality of the drivers around here. Some don't even stop for stop signs, red lights mean you go anyway, tailgate the guy in front of you so he goes faster...the list is endless. My son and I were just discussing this the other day.We had drivers ed when I was in school in the 70's.You better believe we learned how to drive correctly,it wasn't mom or dad in the car with us.
Our district offers a class that you can pay for,but the price is unbelievable. To get your child the class and required hours behind the wheel for licensing,it costs thousands.Who can afford to pay that?
I think it was an important class and the funds should be found somewhere for it.
