Question:
To make this brief, this incident happened in the central of Stockholm this afternoon. My bagpack was stolen from the car that was parked near the shop that I visit to buy for some food. Despite, the fact that my bag does not contain any valuable item it has papers, folders, note book and other important school equipment. I am convinced that the bag was stolen because when I returned, the door in the back seat was opened and the only thing that disappeared was my bag. Do you think that it would be helpful and necessary to report this crime to the police? I obviously can't expect them to search for or investigate a thief that stole a single bagpack in the entire city. I know that this is not a big issue for you but it is certainly for me. I had lost all the paper and book that I need to review for upcoming task/assignment. What do you suggest me to do? I am desperately looking for a solution here and not for any comments. Thank you.

Your book and review papers are important, and a police report might help get the book replaced for a lesser price or none.

Besides that, although the police may not look for it, it may show up somewhere (like on the perpetrator) and if the police know it was stolen, you would get it back.

Make a report out, and also, put up flyers around for your lost bag, with details describing it and how important the contents are to you. Ask it to be returned if found, no questions asked. Don't give your address, but leave another address, such as your school's(your school should have a lost-and-found dept.). That way, if someone finds it (or if the thief feels naughty enough to return it anonymously), it can be deposited at the place you designate.

Also, ask around or see if any cameras caught the act.
A report is not necessary if nothing in your bag was valuable, but it's good to have 'just in case'. You never know, you may find someone wearing your bag, and without some kind of proof it was stolen, you would have no case.
On top of everything, after you make your report, begin taking steps to get the book and papers replaced, so you can continue your work. Don't wait until your bag is found to do this. There is no guarantee that your bag or it's contents will ever be found, so there's no sense in wasting precious time holding out for it. Don't dwell on it, just consider it gone, but do report it.

You should report it, someone stole my Mustang, I reported it never expecting to see it back, someone spotted it less than 24 hrs later, it was a bit beat up but, salvagable, and I got it back, you never know, they might find it. report it.More Questions & Answers ...
