It doesn't but what it does do is create a want for something bigger, better and faster. Make people believe they are capable of doing the same things and they'll buy your product. All it ends up doing is putting more money in their pockets. Ultimately putting all drivers in risk of being in a serious accident when someone gets behind the wheel and tries the same stunt or other quick manoeuvre when it isn't safe or the road conditions are poor.

If the commercial people can get you to buy a new car they have served the interests of the government. They do not advise that you go fast in a car, but will sell a car that does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, with a top end at 160mph. Show me one road where it is even legal to drive 100mph. If you do,it isn't in the US and there is only one that I have been on in Europe. That was 20 years ago.
Save gas, save the world, not gonna happen, so drive on.
