Question:
Yesterday, I was on the way to my mothers house and a truck in front of me was driving all over the road. It was like he was playing pin ball between the two lines. As we drove up a very steep hill he veered into the other lane and almost hit three cars. Everyone I have asked said I should have called the police. A friend of mine experienced the same situation a few months ago so she called the police. She followed the vehicle for fifteen miles until the other vehicle turned. The police never came. So, I am wondering, should I have called the police knowing they probably wouldn't have shown up? I don't like to get other people in trouble but their driving was bound to cause an accident. I know it is too late to do anything about this specific truck driver but it is for future reference. Thanks...

Is a Ford Explorer considered a "high profile"vehicle?
Yes, take down the license plate # and if possible, the truck or trailer # and the company it belonged to. A weaving vehicle is dangerous regardless of its size, and you can remain anonymous. I would also caution following anyone anywhere unless you truly have the size and resolve to defend yourself in the event the driver does decide to attack. Normally its not worth the trouble and best left to the authorities. If in doubt, call the company directly and tell theme the same info you'd provide to the police. Not too long ago, I was following a lumber truck on the highway here in Florida. this idiot was hauling a wide truss package for a new house, almost ran a camper off the road, went onto the left shoulder to pass a gas tanker and took off over 83mph when they got ahead of the other trucks. needless to say I called the company and was disgusted with their driving. I'm a professional driver as well, but there is no need to pass a fuel truck on the left shoulder at 77mph!!!
always give the licence number and continue on the way
Perhaps when the other person called there was an emergency of some sort and there was no one available to respond. If you feel someones driving is a menace and will probably cause an accident you should report it. Give the 911 dispatcher as much info as possible. The location, direction of travel, color, type and license number of vehicle you are reporting if possible.
Why do wheels appear to turn backwards in motion pictures?
If you see someone driving in a reckless manner, that could cause injury or death, to yourself or anyone else, you should take their vehicle info down, and make a call. If an officer is in that area, or they can get an officer to that area in a quick manner, and the person is stopped, that one call could make the difference in someone's life. He may not have been drunk, he may have a health issue, but whatever the situation was, the driver needed to be held accountable for his actions. How do you convince parents to let you get your license?
I say YES, by all means, call. Often they are not busy and respond quickly. A driver like that could kill someone. When you see a sign on the motorway that says?
I would have not called the police, because that certain driver you called the police on might "get back" at you! I'm just saying this through past experiences.More Questions & Answers ...
