Question:
I just bought this car used (1999 model) just in time for winter in Colorado. It seems that the 4WD does not engage and there is very little power to the rear tires in inclement weather. I've never had a car that can be put into 4WD, and thought maybe I am just doing it wrong. When I put it in High 4WD, I am usually in Drive gear. When I go into Low 4WD, I have to be in neutral. Does anyone know if I am even doing this right?? My car fish tails on the snowy/icy roads, and I am desperately hoping it isn't just always going to be a crappy car in this weather. If I'm doing it wrong, I would really just like to know how to do it right!

What is the minimum width of a median between two roads?
Did you get out of the car and "LOCK THE HUBS/wheels in"?...I have a 96 Kia - on that you manually have to lock in the hubs- -it will show you on the wheel what direction your turn that cap thing to -do that on both sides - while the vehicle is running and in neutral- then get back inside vehicle and shift her into whatever-4wd gear you want- See I also have a silverado that the 4wd is "on the fly"/push button up near the steering wheel and it does it all electronically for me- BUT do remember- if you have 2 lock in the hubs- you also have to unlock them when you are through!Hope this helps!More Questions & Answers ...
