Question:
traffic lights are totally unfriendly to the enviroment, they use energy 24/7,they create congestion resulting in fumes and smog and they cause delay, when roundabouts keep traffic flowing and use no form of energy.I except that some multiple junctions are very dangerous and need to be controlled, but have you noticed how much smoother and more cautious we are when the lights are not working.what do the statistics on accidents have on this.?

Why aren't buses required to have seatbelts?
rondabouts with doubt the best no idea what the statistics are but being on road every day i know theres only ever cues at traffic lights even when nothing waiting to to go through the green in other directionRoundabouts are safer if used correctly as you have to slow down when you get to them. There is nothing to stop you doing 100mph through a red traffic light only the other car you hit
will the rear end of my bus drag?

How many of you forget to use your turn signal?
It is quite common now to find roundabouts with traffic lights. Apparently lady drivers don't like roundabouts so the councils have put traffic lights on most roundabouts around London. I have mentioned that this is a waste of lights but my lady friends disagree with me. It is defeating the object but there are quite a lot of lady drivers who do not like using roundabouts. The world is ruined is what I say!Which of the following statements about blind spots are true?
Roundabouts are very common in Europe and Mexico, but the USA has just begun to use then. The big problem here is we are used to being told when to stop and when to go. We know about 4-way stop signs and red-green-yellow signals, but we don't know the protocol for roundabouts. I find a few drivers dart right out and slip back and forth across the lanes. Others creep in, get stressed and are afraid to move out of their lane to get off and generally create chaos for the rest of us. I found in some vehicles it is hard to see cars behind me because of the angle, so it can be dangerous to move across the lanes to get off. Like people who drive down the on-ramp and them are afraid to get out in the fast traffic of a freeway, one driver can mess everyone up.Sorry, I'll stick with traffic signals. As for being a user of energy and creator of smog, what are cars with one person in each but the major polluter and energy waster.

hand held mobile speed cameras?
To be honest, the best traffic lights I know are in Leeds, which only operate at peak hours on the entrance to the M1 from the M62.....a very busy roundabout.Because people are incredibly selfish and hog their precious patch of turf, roundabouts ALWAYS snarl-up at peak times, and bring traffic-flow to a halt. That's when peak-time lights are very useful, and at no other time.
what happens to my driving licence after its been revoked?
Of course, why we don't have LESS traffic lights and less roadsigns, I will never know, because we are bombarded by information overload every minute of every day.
If you are 12 but really short can you still sit in the front seat with an airbag?
Traffic lights do not need to constantly be lit between midnight and 5am, and the continental approach of a steady amber warning is more than enough.
How should I use a jake brake in slippery weather?
I don't think I would want to leave it to chance at major road junctions, even during the night.
Why do people run and ride bikes on the side of the road when there is a sidewalk?
Of course, in environmental terms, the questioner raises a completely invalid argument, because juts ONE heavy truck setting off from a standstill probably uses more fuel than a whole set of traffic lights working all night. Far greater fuel efficiency is achieved when speed does not fluctuate up and down all the time, and being a truck-driver, one of the most infuriating things is to stop at a red-light in the middle of the night, when the lights are of the timed variety.
A good visual search includes_________.?
In fact, the best environmental option would be those newer type of lights, which respond to approaching traffic, and then go on stand-by when there are no vehicles around. Using LED's in traffic lights would also bring considerable savings, due to the fact that clusters of them use less electricity than normal bulbs.
