My driving instructor was very patient! I felt like we were moving on at a steady rate, not too quick that I didn't understand things, but not too slow that i got bored!!We started off by learning the basics. The went on to different road situations.
Then had a lesson on three point turns.
Next lesson we would do a recap of three point turns (I did a three point turn from then on each lesson etc) and driving
The gradually introduced bay park etc with a lesson focused one ach. Kept recapping them each lesson.

Mine made me cry...he shouted at me cos I kept getting 1st gear instead of 3rd on my second lesson! I quit soon after that. I had 3 in total and my last one was great he gave me so much confidence and after four lessons with him I was ready to take my test after I had hundreds of lessons from the 2nd guy!Are you having problems? The driving instructor can drive, right? You can't right? So, who has the power here? Learn and you won't need them anymore. Remember, they instruct, they don't give the test. And the TEST is what you got to worry about.
This is not a matter of personalities, you can hate them for all I care(as we did our teachers) but it is the material you gotta know for the test.

i had a lady first and had 10 lessons with her and she still didnt let me drive the car. I was nearly crying with her it was really embarrassing if i did drive she had me on the roads right near my house where everyone could see me doing hill starts. i was fuming. So i rang someone else and had this man and he was really down to earth and i felt at ease he let me drive and he used the clutch for the first few lessons. But in the end i past my test b/c he had alot of patience with me.If the instructor does not take the time to talk and tell the student what is needed prior to the student (doing). Often instructors, think that students will not do (XXXXX), only to be surprised that the student does.

The first instruction my driving instructor gave me was: "IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, TAKE YOUR HAND OFF THE STEERING WHEEL". That seem like a stupid thing to do, or for him to say. As the driving course went on with myself and two other students, on every occasion where the student driver was LOSS - CONFUSED - MISGUIDED, the instructor said "Get you hand off the Steering Wheel". We often responded quickly, and the instructor controlled the car. The fact that the instructor took the time to set up an automatic response for up, permitted up to learn in a condition that prevented yelling, and fared nerves.

anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe! i have had 5 driving instructors and its only the last one that has made me feel confident in my abilities, i will be passing my test in a few weeks (as apposed to the few years i thought it would take!)if you doubt your instructor then its probably time to stop lessons with them - can you see yourself passing your test and becoming a good driver if you are doubting him/her?

In India, driving is a luxury. In this country driving is necessarily. This is a big decision, mind-boggling situation for many novices (to be drivers). You have a Vision to Drive but cannot decide how to fulfill it?
Let’s say, you decided to fulfill your Vision to Drive. You get proper documentation like permit or license etc. A well thought, decision, but has to be backed up by well planning as well.

1. Instructors do get phone calls more than average. Your instructor may answer the phone when it is safe but very quickly, and not stay too long on the phone.

As a former driving instructor I would say the single most important quality is the ability to make your pupil feel confident - both in themselves and in you the instructor.With confidence will come calmness, a clear head, ability to listen and understand. The actual technical side of driving - gear changes, approaches to hazards, road awareness, taking roundabouts etc...etc. are then quite simple.
