Would Dodge Caliber be a safe bet car to take for a snowboarding trip?

Question:
I'm thinking about renting a car for the snowboarding trip. From what I have researched so far, Dodge Caliber seem like the best opition, value wise and safety wise to rent for the snowboarding trip since it's AWD and has some good quality of an SUV. Does it have snow tire capability? Since it's my first trip, I want to be safe as possible. If it isn't, can someone suggest another good car? Thanks!

what's the best response when a car skids out of control on a surface slick with diesel?

I work with someone who has a Caliber R/T. We had a really bad snow storm here and she said the AWD did very well through the snow. Now, we only got about 7 inches, but she said it did pretty good, but the clearance leaves a little to be desired.

The Dodge Caliber AWD would get you safely to your destination. However, most rental vehicles will only have all-season tires on the vehicles.

However, other suggestions for a vehicle as well would be Dodge Magnum RT or SXT AWD. Great station wagon that will carry those snowboards and as well have some great comfort driving. They are a little bigger than the Caliber but do get decent gas mileage as well.

I owned a Dodge Magnum RT AWD before I traded it in for my SRT8. The Magnum was excellent in the snow and ice and it is like riding on rails especially with the ESP on (Electronic Stability Program). It does have 1 inch more clearance (ride height) than the normal RWD Magnum's. If the Caliber has the similar AWD system you will enjoy your trip if you do hit snow or ice on the roads.
