With all this snow we're getting in Denver, what's the best way to drive in it without sliding everwhere?

Question:
Even when driving slow and several feet away from everyone, my car is always sliding even when stopping...and I have brand new tires! I'm always driving really slow in it.

Answers:

why are speed limits on rural roads 55mph? That is too dangerous and they should be lower.?

I Suppose you could get cables they go around your tires they are like chains but they dont weigh as much and theyre easier to put on i think you can go like 45mph with them but youd have to check that.
i think you can get them at Walmart or an Auto Parts store

A driver must have 360 degrees of vision around the vehicle at all times.?

Try buyng special snow tyres BUT if that dosent work you can buy snow chains quite cheep over the internet

new driver question?

what are some questions that are asked in taking driving licese test?...?

1. What type of drive train do you have? Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, All wheel drive. In snow and ice conditions I'll take All Wheel drive 1st, followed by 4 wheel drive, front wheel and lastly rear wheel.

If you are involved in an accident, causing injury or death, you must report it in how long and to who?

Ok now listen. When you apply power and the tires spin or just one spins if you don't have a limited slip differential.

Do you know where i can get statistics regarding road safety (or lack there-of) with the increase of SUVs?

The car'spinning tires will want to drift right due to the torque created bythe engine,

Are you a safe Driver?

When in traffic in the snow, its kinda like the bumper cars at the amusement park so watch out. Give yourself 4 to 5 times the distance between you and everyone or thing out there.

i worked 8 hours with one 40 minute break, is that legal, what is the law?

When you apply your brakes on ice or snow (which has turned to ice underneath the snow) even if you have anti lock brakes the action of apply brakes must be made in a very gentle manner because the tires usually don't have any contact with the pavement and when on ice or packet snow apply the brakes well in advance of your stopping point. Because there is no traction the application of the brakes will inmost cases casue the tire to stop spinning and now its sliding ine the direction it was travelling before it stopped spinning and started sliding on a small patch underneath each car. Once the wheel stops spining you now had a sled, you can turn the wheel left and right but the direction and monentum are unaffected becasue the tire tread that provides grip/traction is not moving. So apply the brakes very gently way in advance to give you some manuver room.
Again once you cause the tires to stop spining they are sliding and you have virtually no dirdirectonial control

Some parking lot has a signs that says " head in only". Whats the reason for this?

.

Anyone heard anymore news on the 2 year mot, I believe a lot of Europe already have?

Tires are not magic, and neither are ABS, traction control, stability control, all wheel drive or GPS navigation.

i think i may have got flashed by a speed camera facing me.?

No traction means NO TRACTION!

This might seam to be an odd question, but humor me please, What exactly do chains do for tires while driving?

Guess what? When there is snow on the street, you are not actually driving, you are controlling a slide for the entire trip. If it freaks you out, stay home. If your car can't handle more than 6" of snow, stay home. If you panic and freeze when you slide, stay home. If your tires aren't good, stay home. Get the picture?

How do I find out what car seat is best for my kids?

It takes practice to learn snow driving. Most of the time, you don't have ZERO traction, just VERY little of it. Get into a mall parking lot after hours and practice sliding around at low speeds. Get the feel of sliding, count the time you take to come to a stop and make note of the distance. Feel how well you can brake on different types of snow & ice. Pull your e-brake at 15mph and come safely to a stop.

Why is it difficult passing UK practical driving test? Are this centre Money making insitution? Pls advise.?

It was winter when I learned how to drive for the first time. I had a bald-tired '84 Mazda GLC hatchback, beat to hell. Once you learn how to spin a car in 360's with the e-brake, 1st gear and reverse, nothing really scares you on snow!

what are the health and safety regs on delivering petrol, as i have a interview and they ask questions?

If you are a danger to other drivers, stay home. Leave snow to the locals, and pay attention to what they're driving.

driving test, after passed theory, have you done it?
