Question:
my fiance and i were in a turn lane, just trying to turn so we could get to a resturant for lunch. in my town, at every stoplight, it usually works in this order. say you come up to a red light and have to stop right away. you stay stopped for a bit, then a green arrow will come on saying its ok to turn left, then the whole light will go green so everybody not in the turn lanes can go. today though, at this particular light, we seriously sat for about ten minutes, and through three sets of light changes with no green arrow. the whole light would turn green, then yellow, then red, and then the light for the cross traffic would turn green. the cross traffic got their green arrows. why didnt we? could something have been wrong with the light? what is the longest you have waited at a stoplight? it was irritating, because we have never seen that happen of any of the other 3 dozen or so lights in this town.
Answers:
The average wait at this light is 4-6 Min.

True story: I pulled up to this light, right away knew I would be experiencing the maximum wait time, got out of my car, ran to the taco bell on the corner, ordered 2 tacos, and a drink ran back to my car, ate one taco, and still had a moment or two before it turned green
Who has the right of way in traffic circles in the United States?
This happened to me the other day, I waited about 5 minutes. It all depends on how close you are to the line at the light. I guess I wasn't close enough and just got impatient, decided to go straight and make an immediate u-turn so I can turn right at the light that is opposite of the one I was just at. I hate stupid lights.I waited 6 minutes once and there weren't any other cars around, it was late at night, just when I about to say "heck with it" and go it changed finally changed green.
I need to get over my fear of driving under the influence. Any suggestions?

Back in the 70's in California, the 101 fwy going through Santa Barbara had a stoplight. If you hit the red right when it changed, you would wait at least 10 mins. In fact they had signs recommending that you turn off your motor. I waited there one time for 15 mins. Not an exaggeration, I timed it.More Questions & Answers ...
