I know I m going to get shot down in flames over this question?

Question:
but here goes. Can someone tell why it is when a mum is pushing a childs buggy that she nearly always pushes the buggy with baby in it out onto the road first instead of turning the buggy round and pulling. I have only ever seen two mums do this...much safer practice especially with all the lunatic drivers on the road.

Ive got a driving question..and a purchase one?

Curious to know.

Answers:

What is the name of the small side-view mirrors seen on the hoods of SUV's in Europe and Asia?

i always thought that when my kids were young. i tended to put the buggy sideways so it was level with me. i think it is mainly because no-one has invented a buggy that can be pulled comfortably and it just becomes second nature therefore to push them. i think there needs to be some sort of education on this subject especially as the amount of cars on the road rises each year.

Do you think that states should require senior citizens to take a driving test after a certain age?

Only a parent who does not care about their kids would push them out onto the road first

Women make the?

It is common sense you would think isnt it? I am not a mum yet, but when I am, I have always said that I would pull my buggy onto the road rather than push. Afterall, surely you do anything to protect your child, so why push them into danger?

Idiot driver.Should I have called the police?

When I was a buggy pusher, the only time I pulled instead of pushed, was when there could be a possible hazard. Most of the time, if you practice normal observation of your surroundings, it isn't necessary.

What is wrong with the way I drive? (read details.)?

I agree with you and have often asked my wife this question. We have 2 kids. She does not know the answer either.
Several times i have had to stop myself from pulling up and asking these women if they are complete idiots or if they have absolutely no regard for their child's safety. It is completely beyond me why they do this, surely their child is the most important thing in their lives! Perhaps not. I think women who do this are complete idiots. There. now I'll go down in flames with you.

Car Accident Should I sue? How Much?

I think it's a perfectly valid question..It is much safer for a mother to reverse positions and precede the buggy into the street. Unfortunately most of us don't tend to think of it those terms.. I think that no matter which one enters the street first they're both going to probably be taken out if a crazy driver is on the loose.mom gets hit normally she isn't just going to let go of the buggy.. human nature dictates that she'd hang on for dear life...

Looking for a car seat with 5 point harness for 2 year old that goes up to 65 lbs (for the harness)...but...?

I often worry about this myself. I don't think it looks safe at all. I guess if there are no parked cars or anything and the road is clear then it makes no difference, otherwise the mother should think ahead and go first.

Perhaps you should ask the manufacturers why they made them that way

My son's partner is teaching my son to drive.?

Lack of brain cells. Ive seen this happen too often. Usually by Vicky Pollard-a-likes who are more interested in getting to the off licence to spend the giro than they are the wellfare of their baby.
Maybe Common sense classes should be introduced in schools, Finding teachers to take the classes would be tricky tho as I have never come accross one that knows anything outside their chosen subject

In your opinion which age group is most likely to be involved in a road accident?

I have often pondered this. How ever If the mom turns around and backs of the curb/sidewalk.She is More likely to stumble and fall, causing her and baby serious injury or worse.
If she turns buggy/walker around, one hand on one handle, the buggy will most likely fall over backwards. If there is a car coming. Disastrous!
There are lots of examples of seemingly stupid rules.

One being. If on a plane and the plane starts to dive, oxygen masks fall. Instinct tells you to get baby's mask on first right?

Has anyone been to the Driving Theory Test in Ireland recently? Has anything changed? The book is thicker now.

I doubt the extra three feet would make any difference while attempting to scurry across a busy intersection.
Scheeze...

On the roads today why is this...?

Definitely self first is the safest way for a child, but the other way seems to be what people choose intuitively. My guess would be that this comes from the very old pre-historic times, when a child would die anyway if his/her mom was killed… It takes a conscious effort to overcome an instinctive behavior.

Driving Test Question?

Well I'm 28 years old and perfectly capable of judging when the road is clear,
I have to have the pram infront of me,
If it was by the side wouldn't it delay me in setting off accross the road ?
And it would look quite silly on my head,
I was actually wondering if you have kids yourself ??
I'd never put my child at risk cos she's my world
And yes I am a driver too.
It's a drivers responsibility too make sure it is safe before setting off.
